Post-natal care in Ayurveda
First 6 weeks period after the delivery is called as ‘Sutika-avastha’ according to Ayurved. Specific dietary and lifestyle rules have been stated in Ayurved which should be followed by each woman after delivery to avoid vitiation of Vatadosha and complications resulting due to delivery. It is termed as ‘Sutikaparicharya’.
After delivery the mother and the baby should get proper massages with medicated oils. The mother should consume fresh, light food, medication for proper lactation such things help the mother to get back the physical fitness she had.
Specific dietary and behavioral plan is recommended for this period as due to delivery naturally there is aggravation of Vatadosha in the body.
