What is Diabetes according to Ayurveda?

Diabetes can be related with Prameha in Ayurveda. It is disease where vitiation of Tridosha- Vata, Pitta & Kapha dosha takes place. Especially Kapha vitiation is the main factor responsible for Diabetes. It can be Hereditary or Acquired. Due to vitiation of Kapha, Agni [Digestive power] is affected. Formation of Aam takes place so nourishment of body hampers. Aam is nothing but undigested digestive juice, which starts accumulating in the body. It travels entire body through Lymphatic system. It is then excreted through urine so increases frequency of Micturition is seen. If Prameha is left untreated it leads to further vitiation of Tridosha, leading to elevation of vitiated Vata dosha leading to Madhumeha. The causes, Symptoms of Diabetes mellitus can be related to Madhumeha.
